Honda Mobilio spotted, launch in July – Maruti Suzuki Ertiga, Nissan Evalia, Datsun Go+ and Chevrolet Enjoy in trouble

Honda is likely to launch the brand new Mobilio MPV just after a few weeks in the Indian market. The Japanese automotive giant has already launched the model officially in the Indonesian market recently. It would be a tough fight for the other MPV models such as Maruti Suzuki Ertiga, Nissan Evalia, Chevrolet Enjoy and the upcoming models such as Datsun Go+ and Renault Lodgy. Prior to the official debut in July, a completely built unit of the Mobilio has been spotted by an enthusiast recently and a set of images were revealed over web.

It was quite surprising to find a unit of Mobilio on Indian roads as not even a single test mule of the model was spotted so far and this is the first time ever to see a Mobilio in India. The respective MPV unit was spotted near Honda Car India’s production line near their manufacturing plant at Greater Noida. As we can observe from the set of spy images, the respective MPV has not been registered yet and there is no number plate at all. As per the information, it was going to be loaded into the truck in front of it and is likely to get supplied to a dealership show room.

The manufacturer has chosen the same 1.5 litred iDTEC diesel engine for the upcoming Mobilio MPV which was earlier used in the Amaze sedan and City sedan models in India. The engine produces around 100 PS at the peak along with 200 Nm of torque and it comes mated to a 5 speed manual transmission gear box as standard. Honda has not revealed anything so far about the fuel efficiency of the model but we could expect mileage to be around 23 kmpl mostly. The respective engine has delivered a massive 25.8 kmpl in Amaze and 26 kmpl with the City sedan in India.

We could expect the petrol version of the model to get powered with a 1.5 litre iVTEC engine or a 1.2 litre iVTEC engine most probably and the engine may come accompanied with a 5 speed manual transmission gear box as standard. As per the information, Honda is keen on opting the 1.2 litre engine to slash down prices and a CVT gear box may also be offered. Honda is expected to offer the brand new Mobilio MPV in the price range of around Rs. 6 lakhs to Rs. 10 lakhs in India.
