Mercedes Benz SL 400 launched in Germany to replace SL 350 – AMG GT on its way to tackle Porsche 911

Mercedes Benz has launched the brand new SL 400 globally as a replacement for the existing SL 350. Packed with a brand new powerful engine, the new SL 400 is expected to give a breakthrough for the manufacturer this year. Mercedes has not yet announced about the introduction of the model into Indian market and other markets globally except German market. Mercedes Benz has declared the price of all new SL 400 in the German market as 80k Euros.

Dr. Dieter Zetsche, the Chairman for the Board of Management, Diamler AG has stated in connection with the launch of the new Mercedes Benz SL 400 “There are around 900 million cars in the world and thousand of models. But there are only a handful of automotive icons. Our SL is one of them: it has class, it has style, it is the ultimate in comfort and luxury. But it combines all that with sportiness and dynamism. You would struggle to find a car that embodies Gottlieb Daimler’s aspiration more perfectly than our new SL: the best or nothing”.

SL 400 is a masterpiece made mostly by using aluminium materials and it is one of the most rigid coupes ever made. The manufacturer has adopted the engine from E 400 and made some tune up works in order to get more from it. The respective 3.0 litre V6 engine is capable of generating around 333 PS power at the peak along with 480 NM of torque. Multi spark ignition and the direct injection system have made the engine deliver around 27 PS more power and around 110 Nm more torque when compared with the outgoing SL 350.

As per the information, SL 400 is capable of attaining 100 kmph speed from rest within just 5.2 seconds only and the top speed of the vehicle is around 250 kmph. The CO2 emission figure of the model is around 172 gm per km and it delivers mileage of around 14 kmpl. Mercedes Benz is hoping for a big success with the launch of SL 400 to keep up the momentum till the most awaited ‘AMG GT’ gets launched.
