IPL 2004 tourney may be held in 3 phases in Bangladesh, Dubai and India. General elections in India are the reason why there is uncertainty over the venues of IPL. Home ministry made it clear that they cannot provide security to the matches and thus the tourney may be held in Dubai, India or Bangladesh.

New Delhi: IPL 2014 season 7 will be held in three countries. This event will begin on April 16 and will continue till June 1. Initial matches will be held in UAE from April 1 to April 30.

IPL 2014 matches from May 1 to 12 will be held in either Bangladesh or in India. Last round of matches in this tourney will be held from May 13 in India. BCCI requested central government of India to give permission for holding IPL matches in India in state which complete the general elections by May 1. Same situation was phased in 2009 also. Permission was not given to hold the event in India due to security reasons during general elections and the event was held in South Africa.

Central home ministry of India made it clear that they cannot provide security for IPS matches in the wake of general elections in India. Thus BCCI decided to conduct the tourney outside India. South Africa and other countries were considered and finally Dubai, Bangladesh and India are chosen as venues. The first phase will be held in UAE from April 16. Sixteen matches will be played in this phase at Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Sharjah.

Second round of IPL will be held from May 1 to May 12 in either Bangladesh or India. Last round and the final match will be held in India as the elections will be over by May 13. There will be no match played on the day on which votes will be counted. The schedule details of IPL are sent for the approval of central home ministry and BCCI is hoping that they will get the approval.

If the approval is denied, then the matches will be held in Bangladesh. In a press meet, BCCI thanked the Bangladesh cricket board and the Bangladesh government for their support. Detailed schedule of the tournament will be announced soon.
