President Rule to be Imposed in Andhra Pradesh: Central Cabinet Approves President Rule

Central cabinet committee decided to impose president rule in Andhra Pradesh. Kiran Kumar Reddy resigned as chief minister of AP one week ago opposing bifurcation of the state.

Hyderabad: Central cabinet decided to impose president’s rule in Andhra Pradesh. Chief minister Kiran Kumar Reddy resigned a week ago. Andhra Pradesh governor recommended president rule in the state. Kiran Kumar Reddy resigned opposing bifurcation of the state. AP Reorganization bill was passed by both the houses. Andhra Pradesh assembly will be under suspended animation. Term of assembly will end on June 2, 2014. President rule will be imposed under 355(1). Andhra Pradesh governor Narasimhan will look after the administration of the state.

Election commission is going to issue notification for Lok Sabha and assembly election. This is the second time that Andhra Pradesh is going under president’s rule. In 1973, president rule was imposed during Jai Andhra movement from January 11 to December 10.

President rule was imposed in the country 122 times. Manipur was under President Rule for 10 times. President rule was imposed 9 times in Uttar Pradesh, 8 times in Bihar, 8 times in Punjab and six times in Karnataka, Odhisa and Pondicherry.

When president rule is imposed, all the authorities will be in Governor’s hand. He will act as representative of president of India. When president rule was imposed in Andhra Pradesh for the first time, present governor Narasimhan worked as IPS officer in the state and thus has an awareness of president rule.

Central cabinet also approved to set up three Kendriya Vidyalaya schools in Seemandhra. National Institute of Design will also be set up in Seemandhra which was planned earlier to be set up in Hyderabad. It will now be set up in Vijayawada.

Cabinet committee also discussed the issue of new capital for Seemandhra. Various places such as Visakhapatnam, Vijayawada, Tirupati and Kurnool were suggested.

Cabinet committee also approved to increase minimum pension under EPFO scheme to Rs. 1,000. CCEA also approved the proposal to increase one ton of Urea price to Rs. 350. Recently President was imposed in Delhi after Kejriwal resigned as chief minister.
