Pune: It was expected that wearable computing devices will become very popular in 2013. But there were not many takers for the smartwatches and now the likes of Samsung and Sony are trying to make the devices popular with the people by reducing the price. Samsung cut the price of its Galaxy Gear Smartwatch in India by nearly Rs. 3,000. The launching price of the device was Rs. 22,990 but it is now available for a price of Rs. 19,075. Galaxy Gear can be purchased for this price from the online store of Samsung. The main reason for the smartwatches not becoming successful is the higher price tag and also lack of new features, it is observed.

Samsung Galaxy Gear was launched in India in September 2013. The launching price was Rs. 22,990 and it sports 1.63 inches display and features S Voice. It works with several Galaxy devices such as S4, S III, Galaxy Note 3, Galaxy Note 10.1 and others. It comes equipped with 1.9 megapixel camera also. The battery is said to give a battery life of around 27 hours. It was offered with 70 apps and the company is planning to introduce more apps.
