Mahindra voluntarily recalls 900 Scorpio Ex units made during October/ November 2013 due to faulty pressure regulating valve

Mahindra & Mahindra is the leading sports utility vehicle maker in the Indian market and few models of the manufacturer are hot favorites in the market since launch so far. Mahindra Scorpio can be termed as the ‘Most Popular’ SUV and the recent upgrade of the model launched earlier this year resulted into a huge success. From the base variant launched few years ago to the upcoming ‘Micro Hybrid’, the quality making of Scorpio can be considered as the best. Now, Mahindra has once again proved its concern for the Indian buyers by recalling few units of Scorpio voluntarily.

An announcement has been made by M & M recalling around 900 units of the Scorpio EX variant due to a minor issue noticed by the manufacturer recently. No customer has escalated the respective issue so far and the recall made now is purely voluntarily. The respective defective Scorpio units were made in the period from October to November this year. The pressure regulating valve of these units is found to be faulty and Mahindra is replacing the same for free of cost. Replacement would be carried out at all the major dealership outlets across India at any time.

Mahindra Scorpio recall

As per the information, Mahindra & Mahindra has sold around 5230 units Scorpio during the month of October this year and around 3594 units were sold during the month November. The concept of Voluntary recall was introduced by the Society of Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) in the month of July last year for the first time in India. All the leading automotive giants have made voluntarily recalls from July and around 3 lakh units have been recalled voluntarily in the country so far as per the policy.

M & M has stated in connection with the recall recently “Mahindra will carry out preventive replacement of a pressure regulating valve in 900 units of only Scorpio’s Ex variant which were manufactured between October and November 2013. This recall is limited to only to the Scorpio Ex variant manufactured during the said period and does not affect the other Scorpio variants”.
