The brand new BMW i3 comes with an electric motor that is capable of generating more than 168 bhp at the peak very comfortably. The car comes with abattery pack fitted under the seat which weighs about 235 kilograms. Without considering the weight of batteries, i3 weighs just 1195 kilograms only which is very lesser when compared with other rival models of the same segment. The lighter weight has been achieved by using lighter aluminum, carbon fibres and steel for making the chassis and other body parts of the vehicle. Windows have been fitted with thinner glass and thermoplastic panels have been used on the exterior.

Inspite of being powered with a less powerful electric motor, the brand new i3 can attain speed of 100 kmph from rest within just 7.2 seconds only. The official promotional video clips of the model have gone viral over Youtube and they have got a huge number of views within a few days after release.

As per the information, BMW i3 takes just 3 hours to charge the lithium ion batteries fully when connected to AC current. On a single charge, i3 promises a journey of more than 150 kilometeres which is more than enough for an employee who commutes to his office in a city daily. Three different driving modes are going to be offered with the i3 electrci car namely Comfort, Eco Pro and the Eco Pro+ model respectively. We may expect the brand new BMW i3 electric car to get debuted in Indian market by the middle of next year.
