Indira Gandhi Prize for Peace Won by Ellen Johnson Sirleaf

12.09.2013: Indira Gandhi Prize for Peace Won by Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, Liberian President. She received this award for peace, disarmament and development made in the country. Award presented by Pranab Mukerjee, President of India at Rastrapathi Bhavan. She is an inspiration to the women. Johnson was first democratically elected women head of Liberia.

$ 1 Lakh Life time Achievement Prize Received by Philip Levine

12.09.2013: Philip Levine, who is one of the most honoured poets in the US, received $ 1 lakh life time achievement prize. This Prize was announced by American Academy of Poets. Earlier he received Pulitzer Prize. Famous books of Philip Levine are News of the World and What Work Is. Translation award won by John Taylor. For this award along with citation $ 10,000 cash and $ 25000 stipend has received. Carolyn Forchs received $ 25000 fellow ship stipend.

9 Ministers Sacked by Nigeria’s President

12.09.2013: As a part of cabinet reshuffle, 9 Ministers sacked by Goodluck Jonathan who is the President of Nigeria. Total number of cabinet members is 42. Sacked Ministers are Ama Pepple ( Housing Minister ); Ita okon Bassey Ewa (Science & Technology Minister), Ruqayyatu Rufa I ( Education Minister), Shamsudden Usman ( National Planning Minister), Hadiza Ibrahim Mailafa ( Environment Minister), Olubenga Ashiru ( Foreign Minister Ambassador).

New President and CEO of IGATE Corporation is Ashok Vemuri

12.09.2013: Ashok Vemuri was appointed as New President and CEO of iGATE Corporation. He will take over the charge from 16th September. Earlier he worked as board member in Infosys. He also acted as China operations Chairman of Infosys.

BlackBerry 9720 launched by BlackBerry for Rs.15,990

12.09.2013: BlackBerry who is the Canadian Handset maker launched BlackBerry 9720. Retail cost of this Smartphone is Rs.15, 990. Advait Vaidya who is BlackBerry India Product Management Head has stated that this handset will be available in the market by this weekend.

Registration norms Relaxed for Foreign Investors by SEBI

Union Cabinet approved to Buy $ 4.3 Billion Special Bonds

World Rankings Released by FIFA

12.09.2013: FIFA is a Foot ball governing Body. It has announced world rankings on 12th September. Top place was achieved by Spain with 1514 points. 2nd place occupied by Argentina with 1263 pints. Earlier Argentina was in 4th place. Third and Fourth places are attained by Germany (1261 points) and Italy (1199 points) respectively. Next places are as follows : 5th place to Colombia (1180 points), 6th place to Belgium (1159 points), 7th place to Uruguay (1126 points), 8th Place to Brazil (1067 points), 9th place to Netherlands (1058 points) and 10th place to Croatia (1051 points).

All India Coromendel King Moin–ud-Dowla Gold Cup won by Tamil Nadu

12.09.2013: All India Coromendel King Moin–ud-Dowla cricket tournaments won by Tamil Nadu and won Gold cup. To achieve this cup Tamil Nadu defeated Delhi by 88 runs. Biggest partnership in this match is Aparajith and Aniruda. Their partnership has contributed 153 runs to the team out of 180 runs.

President accepted Food Security Bill

12.09.2013: Today President has given positive response to Food Security Bill. Aim of the food security bill is to provide subsidised food grains to 67 % of the country’s population. KV Thomas Food Minister announced that President’s nod to the food securities bill. Loksabha passed Food Bill on 26th August. Rajya Sabha has given assent On September 2nd.
