Celkon Mobile Tri-Series: West Indies improve their Chances of Reaching Final by Defeating India by one Wicket

In the second league match of tri-series, West Indies defeated India by one wicket and registered their second win improving their chances of reaching the final. Opener Charles played a crucial role in the win by scoring 97 runs. This is India’s first league match in the tri-series.

Kingston: In Celkon Mobile Cup Tri-Series second league match, Wets Indies defeated India by one wicket. This is the second victory for West Indies. They won over Sri Lanka in the first league match two days ago.

West Indies won the toss and decided to field first. Windies pacers and spinners restricted Indian batsmen. Playing on the slow pitch was a challenge for the Indian batsmen. The ball was bouncing and West Indies bowlers converted this to their advantage. In the first ten over India scored only 39 runs and lost two wickets. Openers Dhawan and Kohli scored only 11 runs each.

Indian opener Rohit Sharma and Dinesh Kartik played slowly and India could not reach the hundred mark even after 25 overs. These both added 59 runs for the third wicket. Kartik scored 23 runs in 56 balls with here fours and was out in the bowling of Samuels in the twenty sixth over. Rohit was sent back to pavilion when his individual score was 60 runs. Raina and Dhoni were the next batsmen and added 58 runs to the fifth wickets. Dhoni scored 27 runs and Jadeja scored 15 runs. India’s score by the end of 50 overs was 229.

Chasing a target of 230, West Indies won the match and now has a good chance of reaching to the finals. Johnson Charles, opener of West Indies scored 97 runs. This is the second victory for West Indies. In the first five overs, West Indies lost the wickets of Gayle and Marlon Samuels. Devon Smith was also out without scoring any runs. At a point, the score of West Indies was 26 for three. Opener Charles played positively and hit fours whenever possible. West Indies scored 20 runs in 47.4 overs and registered their second win.
