Yahoo Mail Gets New Look

California: Yahoo mail, the world’s third largest web mail service provider and ranked No.1 in US, has improved its overall look and design. This was announced by Marissa Mayer, CEO Yahoo on Tuesday 11 December 2012.According to her, the redesigning of the popular email service will result in simplicity, higher speed and fewer distractions. This is one of the most important decisions she has taken after becoming the President and CEO of Yahoo in July 2012.

The new version has focused on simplicity in all of its important functions like composing, reading and replying. During the last few years, the usage of Yahoo mail service was declining due to increased texting preferences and mobile phone usages among teens and adults alike. Few months back Yahoo’s strongest competitor Gmail changed its overall design and look in its core functions.

Currently Yahoo rolled out three versions of email service for iPhone, Android and Windows 8 of which the Android application is an updated version while the other two are brand new versions. It will soon develop its updated version for PC users and most computer users would be able to experience the new web version within few days.

According to Marissa Mayer, email was the first thing people check in the morning and the last thing before going to bed. Therefore the current changes will make the inbox of the users more intuitive and easier to navigate. They will be able to login quickly, read and reply messages fast with fewer advertisements appearing in the pages.Vivek Sharma, General Manger, Yahoo Mail & Messenger told that the new feature was 40 percent faster for a user to go from login to inbox and 15 percent faster when composing messages.

Yahoo has more than 110 million users around the world, the new version will help to save time and for mobile users, it will significantly help to reduce battery usage. According to Vivek Sharma, this was only the beginning and there were lots of other features yet to come. Marissa Mayer who came from Google is trying to bring back Yahoo mail a solid look and feel.
