General :
AEG aims at publication of the results
of original research in the field of Geophysics. Scientific contributions in the
shape of original research articles, short communications, case histories
involving developments in methodology, techniques, instrumentation,
interpretation etc., and discussions on the papers are published by the
association in its Journal and seminar proceedings.
Only those articles which have been not
submitted for publication elsewhere are accepted. Authors are particularly
requested to confine strictly to the salient features of the actual scientific
work carried out by them, avoiding generalities. Short articles will be
encouraged. Reports of routine investigations are given low priority.
Acceptance of the contribution for publication or otherwise is based on the
assessment by reviewer(s). Two copies of the manuscript complete in all
respects and prepared strictly as per the guidelines, should be submitted to
the Secretary, AEG clearly indicating the theme under which the paper will be
presented.
Text:
The Text should not normally exceed
6,000 words and short communications 1,500 words inclusive of the area for
tables, illustrations etc. All manuscript (in triplicate) should be printed on
one side of the papers (on bond paper) with double spacing and wide margin on
the left. Authors are requested to send the electronic version of the text in a
floppy or by Email (preferably as a separate attachment). The electronic
version may be in any of the popular file formats like MS WORD, WORD PERFECT,
LATEX (Text only), WORD STAR, PAGE MAKER, etc.. PostScript/PDF files cannot be
used.
The first page of the manuscript should
include (i) the title of the paper which should be brief and reflect the theme,
(ii) the author’s name and institutional address and (iii) a short title not
exceeding 50 letters including spaces, for use as running head. Abstract and text
should not be typed in the first page. In the second page, the title should be
given again followed by a brief and informative abstract not exceeding 200
words. Abstract should not be mere summary of the text but should give the
salient features and conclusions. The authors names and address should not be
given in the second page. The abstract should not be followed by the text.
Acknowledgments should be typed on a separate sheet. Words to be printed in
italics should be underlined. SI systems should be used throughout.
Mathematical expressions should be written clearly including the distinction
between capital and small letters, between upper and lower cases, superscripts
and subscripts. The names of letters and symbols should be written in the
margin, the first time they are used.
Illustration:
As for as possible, the size and number
of illustrations are to be kept to a minimum. All illustrations and photographs
are to be numbered consecutively in the order in which they are mentioned in
the text and should be referred to be Fig or Figs. They should be made with
Indian Ink only on good quality White drawing paper or tracing paper. Ammonia
prints or Xerox copies will not be accepted. Letters and symbols in the figures
should be clear and large so that when reduced they are clearly discernible.
The maximum permissible size of an illustration or photograph in the journal is
20 cm (vertical) x 16.5 cm (horizontal). Figures and lettering etc., should be
carefully planned to avoid waste space in the figures. All illustrations should
contain the figure numbers and title of the article written with pencil on the
other side. Captions to illustrations should be typed separately and attached
at the end of the manuscript. Captions should not be written below or inside
the figures. Legend, if any, should be arranged as far as possible along with
the captions for printing. Duplicate sets of figures (which can be Xerox
copies) should be enclosed.
Tables:
Tables should be typed separately and
attached at the end of the manuscript. The table headings should be descriptive
and short. Extensive tables should be suitable for direct photographic
reproduction and hence are to be treated as illustrations.
References:
Reference should be cited in the text
giving name of the author followed by the year of publication in parenthesis.
Citation of references at the end of the paper should be arranged
alphabetically, furnishing all details viz. Name of author (s), year of
publication, Title of the articles, Name of journal, Volume Number, Issue
Number and page numbers should be given as in the sample given below.
