The
Association of Exploration Geophysicists (AEG) Started in 1973 has completed 30
successful years to the cause of Geophysics. AEG has been conducting Annual
Seminars & Workshops on a regular basis. It also publishes Books, Journals,
etc., by eminent geoscientists. It’s effort has been of immense value to
professional geoscientists, industrial planners, investors, engineering
geologists and research scholars of geosciences.
AEG has also
been one of the implementing agencies of the Sail project: “Strengthening the
capability for application of digital methods in geophysical, geochemical and
geological mapping at the national geoscientific institutions of India –
Indigeo,” and also has been an implementing agency of a DST sponsored project:
“Development and Dissemination of Contours to Images Methodology for
Geoscientific Data to Aid Deep Continental Studies in India”.
To encourage
and promote scientific research ONGC has come together with AEG to sponsor two
ONGC-AEG Awards to be given annually to two best research works in the fields
of Exploration and Development of Geophysics. AEG, which supports advancements
and research into economic geology in the country, has come together with
DeBeers India Pvt. Ltd. and has started DeBeers-AEG Fellowship, Prof. V. L. S.
Bhimasankaram Award to study Geophysical properties of Indian Kimberlites and
Geological Terrains.
The
Association of Exploration Geophysicists intends to integrate geosciences for
Research, Exploration and Development aspects, as the future is based on
Integration of all the Geosciences together and not on any one individual
science. It also plans to serve the geoscientific community as a platform for
the exchange and enhancement of Knowledge across the various sections of people
involved with the Geosciences.
