Vilas Tonapi Appointed the Director of Indian Institute of Millets Research

13.2.2016: Vilas A Tonapi is appointed as the new director of Indian Institute of Millets Research.  He is the principal scientist at Seed Science and Technology of IIMR now.  He also served as the head of Seed science and Technology, IARI.

Ashok Chawla is the new Chairman of TERI

13.2.2016: Ashok Chawla is appointed as the new chairman of TERI.  The Research and Resources Institute council announced the appointment of Ashok Chawla.  Ashok Chawla served as Union finance secretary and Chairman of Competition Commission earlier.

Ernst and Young Entrepreneur of the of the Year Award 2015 for Vinita Gupta and Nilesh Gupta

13.2.2016:  Ernst and Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award 2015 is won by Vinita Gupta, the chief executive officer and Nilesh Gupta, the managing director of Lupin Ltd. They will represent India in the EYWorld Entrepreneur of the Year Award in Monte Carlo which is going to be held from 7th to 12th June, 2016.  The winners were selected by 11 member jury.

13.2.2016: Board of Control for Cricket in India’s Disciplinary Committee banned umpire Asad Rauf of Pakistan for five years.  He was found guilty in Indian premier league IPL 2013, spot fixing scandal.

13th February is World Radio Day

13.2.2016: World Radio Day is celebrated on 13th February, 2016.  United National Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization’s theme for this year’s world radio day is “Radio in Times of Emergency and Disaster”.  The day is being celebrated since 2011.  It was proclaimed in UNESCO’s 36th General Conference.

Make in India Centre Inaugurated by Modi in Mumbai

13.2.2016: Make in India Centre was launched by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Swedish Prime Minister Kjell Stefan Lofven and Finland Prime Minister Juha Petri Sipila.  The make in India week is being celebrated from 13th to 18th of this month and offers access to and opportunities to connect with Indian and global leaders.
