23.1.2016: Former deputy speaker of Gujarat assembly Nirmal Gajwani passed away. She was 87. She has many firsts to her credit. She was the first women to select to Gujarat assembly from Kutch district. She was the first lady deputy speaker of assembly. She also was the deputy speaker of the house. Prior to becoming the deputy speaker, she was the chairperson or Sindhu Resettlement Corporation. She was born in Rohri Sindh in 1928. She was a social worker and started many educational institutions in the state.
Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose’s Files Declassified
23.1.2016: Prime minister of India, Narendra Modi declassified hundred files of Subhash Chandrabose. This was done on the 119th birth anniversary of Netaji. The digital files are on display at National Achieves of India. Bose’s family members and union ministers Mahesh Sharma and Babul Supriyo were present at the event. There is controversy over the death of Subhash Chandra Bose who is said to have died in an air crash in 1945. Some say he was killed in Soviet Russia and some say he came back to India and lived with the name Gumnami Baby in Uttar Pradesh till 1985.
Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana Accounts Deposits Cross Rs. 30,000 Cr
23.1.2016: More than 20.38 core banks accounts were opened under Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan yojana scheme till January 20 and the amount deposited is Rs. 30,638,29 crore, it is revealed. Bank accounts opened under this scheme are savings bank deposit accounts with zero balance. Overdraft facility is also provided to 27.56 lakh account holders who operated the account satisfactorily.
119th Birthday of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Celebrated
23.1.016: Indian freedom fighter Subhash Chandra Bose was born on this day in 1897. His 119th birthday is celebrated in India on which day secret files about him was declassified. He was born in Cuttack. He fought for the independence of the country and was put in jail eleven times. He is the founder of Indian National Army and served as president of Congress twice.
