Atul Sobi Takes Charge as CMD of BHEL
3.1.2016: Atul Sobi assumed charge as chairman and managing director of BHEL. He was appointed by the government in September, 2015. He will be in this position for five years. Prior to this appointment, he was the director on Board of BHEL.
Nishagandhi Puraskaram 2016 for Ilayaraja
3.1.2015: Music director Ilayaraja is going to receive Nishgandhi Puraskaram 2016. His contribution to Indian film music industry is honored with his selection for this award. Nishigandhi Puraskaram 2016 is presented by Kerala Tourism and it carries a cash prize of Rs. 1,50,000 and citation.
H D Johar,, Former Assembly Speaker of Punjab Passed Away
3.1.2016: Harnam Dass Johar, former speaker of Punjab assembly passed away at the age of 83. The reason for his death is said to be old age related ailments. He was praised by political parties that he conducted proceedings as speaker of Punjab Vidhan Sabha with impartiality. H D Johar also served as minister for higher education.
Central Government Committee is to be headed by Shyam Benegal
3.1.2015: Central government of India is going to set up a committee which will work out revamp plan for the censor board. The committee is going to be headed by Shyam Benegal. Recent controversies about censor board are expected to end by this.
E-Vahan Bima Scheme Launched by Telangana Government
3.2.2015:Telangana is the first state to introduced e-Vahan Bima Scheme. The scheme was launched by KT Rama Rao, IT minister of Telangana. T S Vijayan Chairman of insurance Regulatory Development Authority was also present at the occasion. Not the digital for motor vehicle insurance policies will be legally accepted in Telangana.
Bengal Getting Ready for Ganga Sagar Mela
3.1.2015: Ganga Sagar Mela is going to begin in January and will end in February. This festival is held on Ganga Sagar island of River Hooghly in Bengal. Lakhs of pilgrims gather at this place to take a holy dip in the water. Taking bath at this place during the religious event is considered very sacred.
