Ashok Chakra Conferred on Lance Naik Mohan Nath Goswami Posthumously

26.1.2016: Lance Nail Mohan Nath Goswami was conferred the Ashok Chakra on this republic day.  Mohan Nath Goswami saved two soldiers who were injured fighting the terrorists in Kashmir and then he succumbed to injuries.  The award was collected by his wife at the Republic Parade from President of India Pranab Mukherjee.

Companion of the Order of Australia Honor for Chennupati Jagadish

26.1.2016: Chennupati Jagadish , physicist professor is awarded Companion of the Order of Australia, the highest civilian award. The Indian origin professor’s services in engineering and physics were recognized and honored. 

India celebrates 67th Republic Day

26.1.2016: January 26th day is celebrated as Republic day by India. Indian constitution came into force on this day in 1950.  Highlight of this year’s Republic celebration in Delhi is the French Army Soldiers taking part in the event.  French president France Francois Hollande is the chief guest for this year’s celebrations.  This is the fifth time that a French leader is the chief guest for Republic day celebrations.

Team India Wins the First T20 Match in Australia

26.1.2016:  Team India won the first T20 match against host Australia today.  India lost the toss and was made to bat first.  Kohli and Raina score quick runs and helped India set a target of 189 runs for Australia team.  With Indian bowlers also performing well, Australia could not chase the total and lost all wickets for 151 runs.  Captain Finch is the top scorer for Australia with 44 runs in 33 balls. Kohli is named the man of the match. The second T20 match will be played on 29th of this month.

Team India Women win the First T20 Match against Australia

26.1.2016: Team India women gave a shock to world champion Australia in the first T20 cricket match.  Team India women successfully chased the total of 141 runs. Indian women won the toss and selected to field first.  Australia women scored 140 runs.  The second match in the three match series will be played on 29th of this month.
