New President of ICSI is Mamta Binani
20.1.2016: Mamta Binani took charge as president of Institute of Company Secretaries of India. She is a law graduate and all India topper in Company Secretaries of India Intermediate examination amongst lady candidates. She is practicing since nineteen years. She is the independent director on few boards. Earlier she was the chairperson of Eastern India Regional Council of ICSI. She received Bharat Nirman Award in the year 2010 and she was the first company secretary to receive this award.
Aroon Tikekar, Senior Journalist Passed away
20.1.2016: Senior journalist Aroon Tikekar breathed his last in Mumbai. He was 72. Tikekar, author of more than twenty books was born in a family of journalists and litterateurs in 1944. He also worked as a teacher before beginning his career as a journalist. His popular works include The Cloister’s Pale: A Biography of the University of Mumbai. He received many awards in his journalist career. He was associated with Times of India, Indian Express Group newspaper and also Loksatta.
Thirty Five Percent Reservations for Women Approved by Bihar Government
20.1.2016: Bihar state cabinet led by chief minister Nitish Kumar approved thirty five percent reservations for women in government jobs. This includes jobs in reserved and unreserved categories. Bihar government is already giving fifty percent reservations in women in recruitment as primary teachers, thirty five percent reservations in recruitment as police constables and sub inspectors. The number of women who voted for Nitish Kumar irrespective and caste and religion in the last assembly elections are more than the male voters.
Jehan Daruvala Wins Lady Wigram Trophy Motor Race
20.1.2016: Jehan Daruvala of Sahara Force India Academy won the Lady Wigram Trophy motor race, maiden victory for the Indian driver. Lady Wigram Trophy is a motorsport race trophy of New Zealand. Other great racers who won the trophy earlier include Jackie Stewart, Stirling Moss, Jack Brabham, Bruce McLaren and Jim Clark. Daruvala also won Rookie of the Year in Netherlands in 2015.
