1.1.2016: Pakistan singer Adnan Sami is given Indian citizenship. The proposal of giving him the Indian citizenship is approved by the union home ministry. Adnam Sami is staying in Indian since 2011. He will be given citizenship under ‘Citizenship by naturalization’ category. Adnam Sami was born in Lahore. He became popular in India with his singing talent. His music is loved by many. He first visited India in the year 2001.

Knighthood for Cancer Expert Harpal Singh Kumar

1.1.2016: Harpal Singh Kumar, an Indian origin cancer research expert is honored with Knighthood from Queen Elizabeth II. His research work for preventing and treating cancer brought him this honor. Among Harpal Singh, other Indian original individuals were also included in the annual Honor’s list and they were Samir Desai, Raminder Singh Ranger.

Ravinchandran Ashwin is Number One Test Bowler in 2015

1.1.2015: Ravichandran Ashwin topped the test bowlers in ICC rankings for the year 2015. Ashwin took around sixty two wickets in nine test matches played this year. This is the first time that he finished the year as no. one and also is the first bowler to achieve this after Bishen Bedi in 1973.

Mithali completed 5000 runs in one day format and is the first woman to achieve this. C K Nayudu Lifetime Award is going to be presented to Syed Kirmani. Robin Uthappa will receive Madhavarao Scindia for scoring highest runs in Ranji matches.

Cricketer Laxmi Ratan Shukla Announces Retirement

1.1.2015: former player in Indian cricket team and Bengal team captain Laxmi Ratan Shukla announced his retirement from cricket. He announced this as he is not getting enough ‘motivation’ to continue to play, he said. He was recently selected to play against Assam. Laxmi Ratan played 137 test matches and scored 6217 runs.
