Amitabh Bachchan is Honorary Life Member of Mohammedan Sporting

13.1.2016: Mohammedan Sporting, soccer outfit of Kolkata bestowed honorary life membership to actor Amitabh Bachchan.  The life membership was handed over to the Bollywood actor by Sultan Ahmed, sporting president.  Bachchan will be the chief guest of Mohammedan sporting outfit for the 125th anniversary event that will be held in 2016.

C Sridhar is the New West Zone IG

13.1.2016: C Sridhar assumed charge as the new IG of west zone.  He succeeded K Shankar who is now transferred to Chennai.  Prior to this appointment, he was the joint commissioner, Law and Order, Chennai.  Meanwhile M B Manjunath is now the police commissioner of Tripur City.

 Kerala is First State to Attain Total Primary Education

13.1.2016: Hamid Ansari, vice president declared Kerala as the first state in India to attain Total Primary Education.  The announcement marks the culmination of second phase of Athulyam for people in the age group of fifteen and fifty.  Athulyam is launched by literacy mission.

SBI Branch Opened in South Korea

13.1.2016: State Bank of India opened a new branch in Seoul, South Korea.  This is the second bank after Indian Overseas Bank to open a branch in South Korea.  The SBI branch will provide savings, current and remittance facilities.

CII Partnership Summit 2016 Concluded

13.1.2016: Confederate of Indian Industry 22nd edition summit concluded in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh.  The summit was started on 10th January in Visakhapatnam.  The summit was held jointly by Andhra Pradesh government, department of industrial policy and promotions and also government of India.  Andhra Pradesh government signed MoU with Reliance group and so on.

Reliance Group to Set up Naval Facility in Andhra Pradesh

13.1.2016: Reliance Defence Ltd signed as MoU with government of Andhra Pradesh to set up naval facility in Visakhapatnam.  The announcement to this affect was made at CII in Visakhapatnam. Initial investment is Rs. 5000 crore rupees.  It will be set up at Rambili, 70 kilometers away from Visakhapatnam.
