Gautam H Bambawale is India’s High Commissioner to Pakistan
24.12.2015: Gautam H Bambawale is appointed as India’s high commission to Islamic Republic of Pakistan. He will succeed TCA Raghavan who is going to retire in December this year. He is presently serving as the Indian ambassador to Bhutan. He belongs to 1984 batch Indian Foreign Service. He also served as Joint Secretary (East India) in union Foreign Ministry Headquarters till 2014.
Rakesh Jain Chosen for National Medal of Science
24.12.2015: Dr Rakesh Jain is chosen for America’s highest science award. He will be given the national medal of science from US president Barack Obama. He is an Indian American and is 65 year old and is the professor at Massachusetts General Hospital in Harvard Medical school. National Medal of Science awards are being given since 1959 and honors individuals for contribution in engineering and science.
Madhavan Menon Elevated to CMD by Thomas Cook India
24.12.2015: Mr Madhavan Menon, managing director of Thomas Cook India is now elevated to CEO. This will come into effect from January 1 next year. Thomas Cook was the managing director of the company since 2006.
National Consumers Rights Day Observed on 24th December
24.12.2015: National Consumers Rights Day is observed on 24th December every year. It is being observed since 24th December, 1986. Theme of this year’s Consumers Rights Day is Safe and Healthy Food: Combating Food Adulteration. The basic rights of consumers are promoted across India.
November 5 Declared as World Tsunami Awareness Day by UN
24.12.2015: United Nations declared November 5 as World Tsunami Awareness Day. This is also to create awareness across globe posed by disasters such as Tsunami. The aim is also to create importance about warning system to loss of lives and property. The proposal to establish the day was done by Japanese government who suffered losses due to this natural disaster.
AgriMarket and Crop Insurance Mobile Applications Launched for Farmers
24.12.2015: Union agriculture ministry launched mobile apps for farmers. These are named crop insurance and AgriMarket mobile. These were launched on the birth anniversary of Atal Bihari Vajpayee and Choudhary Charan Singh. These apps will be available in English and Hindi and will be available on both Google Store and mKisan Portal.
