Virendra Singh Appointed the Lokayukta of Uttar Pradesh
16.12.215: Retired judge Virendra Singh is appointed as Lokayukta of Uttar Pradesh. The appointment is made by Supreme Court of India. Justice Ranjan Gogoi and Justice NV Ramana examined the list of nominees and finalized the appointment. He will succeed N K Mehrotra who term ended a year ago but got extension multiple times.
Arun Kumar Jain is the new Chairman of Central Board of Direct Taxes
16.12.2015: Central Board of Direct Taxes appointed senior revenue service officer Arun Kumar Jain as the new Chairman. Appointments Committee of the cabinet approved his appointment. He is an officer of Indian Revenue service, 1978 batch.
Apurvi Chandela, Chain Singh won Gold Medal at 59th National Shooting Championship
16.12.2015: Apurvi Chandela won the gold medal in 10 meter Air Rifle even and Chain Singh won gold in 50 meter Rifle 3 positions even at the 59th National Shooting Championship. Apurvi Chandela is from Rajasthan and Chain Singh is an Army Man. The 50 meter rifle 3 positions event silver medal was bagged by Gagan Narang and the bronze is won by Swapnil Kusale.
Rory Mcllroy won European Tour Golfer of the Year Award
16.12.2015: Rory McIlroy, the northern Irish golfer won the European Tour Golfer of the year award. This is the third time that he won the award in four years. He was also named RTE Sports person twice.
16th December, Observed as Vijay Diwas
16.12.2015: Sixteenth December every year is observed as Vijay Diwas in India. India celebrates the victory in 1971 war on this day. Martyrs who sacrificed their life in the war for the country are honored on this day. Pakistan was defeated in the war and Bangladesh was formed after separating from East Pakistan after this war.

16.12.2015: Leading e-commerce website in India Snapdeal launched mobile websites in two regional languages – Hindi and Telugu. This website will be available for only mobile users. Snapdeal is also planning to launch their mobile website in eleven other regional languages.
