Sekhar Basu appointed the Chairman of Atomic Energy Commission

10.12.2015:   Sekhar Basu is appointed as the chairman of Atomic Energy Commission. He will succeed R K sinha.  Prior to this appointment, he was the Director of Bhabha Atomic Research Center, Mumbai. He also served as chief executive of Nuclear Recycle Board. Basu is the recipient of many awards including Padma Shri in the year 2014, Indian nuclear society award in 2002.

Tapan Ray Appointed to Board of Securities and Exchange Board of India

10.12.2015: Tapan Ray is appointed tot to the SEBI board. He will replace Anjuly Chib Dubbal on Board of Capital Market regulator Securities and Exchange Board of India.  Tapan is from Gujarat and served in various posts from 1984 to 1994. He became the Secretary in union corporate affairs ministry in August this year.

Anshul Kheterpal is the new CEO of Snapdeal Acquired FreeCharge

10.12.2015: FreeCharge the digital payments platform announced that they have appointed Anshul Kheterpal as the new Chief financial officer.  Prior to this appointment, he was the CFO of Airtel Money.  It was reported in April that Snapdeal acquired FreeCharge.

World Tourism Council has New Head, Kapil Chopra

10.12.2015: The Oberoi Hotel Group announced that their President Kapil Chopra is appointed as the Chairman of World Travel and Tourism Council, India Initiative for 2016.  The decision was taken in the annual general meeting of WTTCII on December 9.  Ashwani Lohani, Chairman and Managing Director of Air India is appointed as Vice Chairman of WTTCII for 2016.

Prakash Kumar Singh is the new Chairman of SAIL

10.12.2015: Steel Authority of India Ltd announced that Prakash Kumar Singh has taken charge as the chairman.  Prior to this appointment, Prakash Singh was the CEO Durgapur Steel Plant, SAIL.  Prakash Singh studied Metallurgical engineering in IIT Roorkee and joined Bokaro Steel Plant in 1980.

Honorary Lifetime Membership of MCC for Mahela Jayawardene

10.12.2015: Mahela Jayawardene, former Sri Lanka captain is awarded with honorary life membership of Marylebone Cricket Club.  Jayawardene played 149 tests in his career and scored 11814 runs. He is the fourteenth Sri Lankan to receive this honor. Others include Chaminda Vaas, Muttiah Muralitharan and Kumar Sangakkara.
