A R Rehman Chosen for  Hridaynath Mangeskar Award

9.10.2015: Note music director A R Rehman is chosen for Hridaynath Mangeskar award for the year 2015.  A R Rehman composed music for many films in several languages.  His contribution to Indian music helped him win the award.  The award was instituted by Hridayesh Art, Mumbai in memory of Hridaynath Mangeskar in 20111.  Lata Mangeshkar, Amitabh, Asha Bhonsle were also honored with the award earlier.

Dr Sekhar Basu Appointed as Chairman of Atomic Energy Commission

9.10.2015: Atomic Scientist Dr Sekhar Basu is appointed as the Chairman of Atomic Energy Commission.  He will succeed Dr Rk Sinha who is going to retire on 23rd of this month.

 Music Director Ravindra Jain is No More

9.10.2015: Veteran music director Ravindra Jain, the Padmashri awardee passed away.  He composed music for many Bollywood hit movies such as Chor Machaye Shor, Ankhiyon ke Jharokhon Se and Ram Teri Ganga Maili. He also won Film fare award for his music in Ram Teri Ganga Maili.

South Africa wins T-20 Series Against India

9.10.2015: The third match in the T-20 series between India and South Africa scheduled to play at Kolkata was Washed Out.  South Africa already won the first two matches and thus it won the series against India 2-0.

9th October is World Egg Day

9.10.2015: 9th October of every year is celebrated as the World Egg day.  This is to raise awareness of benefits of eggs. The day is being observed since 1996. Egg is the only unadulterated farm product that offers many benefits for health. It contains, proteins, vitamins, calcium, folate and zinc.  Eggs also help in losing weight.

ICICI Bank Launched mVisa

9.10.2015: ICICI bank launched a new mobile payment service mVisa using which the customers can make electronic payments from their smartphones.  mVisa is now available only in Bengaluru now.  According to the official it will be extended to other cities very soon.  Customers can make payments at online sites, traditional stores and utility bills with 1500 merchants, it is said.
