Jayant Prasad is the new Director General of Institute for Defence Studies and Analyses

30.9.2015: Jayant Prasad is appointed s the director general of Institute of Defence Studies and Analyses. Jayant Prasad was the former Indian ambassador to Nepal. He also served as Indian ambassador to Afghanistan.  This is a special moment for IDSA as the institute is celebrating its fiftieth year of existence this year.

Brand Ambassadors for Digital India Programme Appointed

30.9.2015: Satwal Jagwani, IIT JEE advance topper, Krati Tiwari – IIT JEE Advanced girl topper, Ankit Fadia – Author and Ethical Hacker and Pranav Mistry – Samsung USA computer Scientist and author are the four brand ambassadors for Digital India Programme. Government of India appointed the four as the brand ambassadors for the program.  These people will work to generate awareness for the programme.

Gurpreet Singh Wins Solver medal in 10m Air Pistol Final

30.9.2015:  Gurpreet Singh won a silver medal in 10 m Air Pistol final at Asian Airgun Championships in New Delhi.  Gurpreet Singh’s final score was 197.6. The gold medal was claimed by Sepehr Safari Borouneni or Iran with 198.7 score.  The bronze medal was also won by an Indian shooter Jeetu Rai whose score was 177.6.  Abhinav Bindra,Ayonika Paul also won medals at the event.

Arjuna Awards 2015 Conferred on M R Poovamma and Babita Kumari

30.9.2015: Minister of state for youth affairs and sports Shri Sarbananda Sonowal conferred the Arjuna awards 2015 to M RM Poovamma and Babita Kumari.  The award carries a statuette, certificate and Rs. 5 lakh award money.  The two were out of the country when Arjuna awards were given away by President of India in August this year.

Lifetime Achievement Award for Shashi Kapoor

30.9.2015: Shashi Kapoor 77, will receive the lifetime achievement award at 6th Jagran film festival.  This veteran actor worked in many hit films such as Namak Halaal, Deewaar, Satyam Shivam Sundaram and Suhaag.  He also did some English film projects.  The 6th Jagran film festival is held from 28th September to 4th October in Mumbai.
