Samardeep Subandh Appointed as CEFO of Flipkart

22.10.2015: Flipkart appointed Samardeep Subandh as the chief marketing officer.  He will also lead the social media communication charter.  Mukesh Bansal, head of Flipkart is the person to whom Samardeep will report. He has vast experience in consumer goods industry.  Prior to this appointment, he was with Marico Ltd as chief sales officer.

Nishant Rao Appointed the Chief Operating Officer of Freshdesk

22.10.2015: software firm Freshdesk appointed Nishant Rao as the chief operating officer. He is presently the managing director of LinkedIn India.  He is also the Chairman of Internet and Mobile Association of India and Advisory board for National Committee on Skill Development.  Freshdesk is owned by Girish Mathrubhootham and Shanmugam Krishnaswamy. It was founded in 2010 with headquarters at San Francisco.

Alok Rawat is the First Male Member of National Commission for Women

22.10.2015: Alok Rawat is appointed as Secretary of the National Commission for Women, the first male member to be appointed the secretary. Alok commented that his presence in the female dominated body will help understanding women’s issues better.

Syed Zahoor Qasim, the Marine Biologist Passed Away

22.10.2015: Marine biologist Syed Zahoor Qasim died at the age of 88.  He breathed his last in New Delhi. He was considered the founder of Polar Biology in India. He guided seven Antarctica expeditions till 1988 after he was on expedition to Antarctica in 1981.

Anirban Lahiri Won Hilton Asian Tour Golfer Award

22.10.2015: Anirban Lahiri, the 39th world ranker in golf is given the Hilton Asian Tour Golfer award. He is voted the winner based on his performance from June to September this year.  Three players were nominated for the award and the other two were Kiradech Aphibarnrat and Prayad Marksaeng.

Saina Nehwal Dropped from World no. 1 Badminton Ranking

22.10.2015: Badminton world federation announced the latest rankings and according to them, India’s ace shuttle Saina Nehwal is no more the number one in women’s singles category. She dropped to 2nd rank and in the first rank is Carolina Marin of Spain.  PV Sindhu, also from India retained her 13th rank.
