Zenia Bhumgara wins International Magicians Association Merlin Award

1.10.2015: Zenia Bhumgara of India won the International Magicians Association Merlin Award in the field of magic.  This award is presented to magicians who achieved highest level in craft. Prodip Chandra Sorcar Jr was the other magician who won this award from India.  International Magicians Association was established in the year 1968 and has more than 41,000 members. Bhumgara is daughter of Mhelly Bhumgara and is the sister of Pearl who are also magicians.

Sarat Kumar Acharya Took Charge as CMD of Neyeli Lignite

1.9.2015: Sarath Kumar Acharya is the new Chairman and Managing Director of Neyeli Lignite Corporation Limited.  This is a company that comes under ministry of Coal.  Achargya was the director of NLC before taking charge as chairman and managing director.  He succeeded Surender Mohan who retired.

UK City Coventry Honors Ratan Tata

1.10.2015: Indian industrialist Ratan Tata took oath as the Honorary Freeman o the city of Coventry.  UK City of Coventry honored the Chairman Emeritus of Tata Sons in recognition of his contribution to West Midlands region.  Other person with Indian origin who won the award was Professor Lord Kumar Bhattacharyya.  13 people since 1914 were honored with this award.

Lifetime Achievement Award for RC Bhargava

1.10.2015: RC Bhargava, the chairman of Maruti Suzuki is honored with lifetime achievement award at Forbes India Leadership Awards, 2015.  Bhargava was IAS topper of 1956 batch.  He is the founding member of Maruti and was the MD of the company till 1997.

Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Prizes for 2015 Announced

1.10.2015: Eleven scientists are chosen for Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar prize for science and technology 2015. The names were announced on the 73rd foundation day of CSIR.  The award carries a cash prize of five lakh rupees, a citation and a plaque.  Dr Balasubrahmanian Gopal, Dr Rajeev Kumar, Dr D Srinivas Reddy, Dr Pradyut Ghosh, Dr Hyotiranjan Srichandran Ray, Dr Yogesh Moreshwar Joshi, Dr K Sandeep, Dr Ritabrata Munshi, Dr Vidita Ashok Vaidya, Dr Bedangadas Moahnty and Dr Mandar Madhukar Deshkumu are the scientist who will receive the awards.
