29.8.2015: Gillette India announced the appointment of Al Rajwani as the managing director. The appointment comes into effect immediately and he will be in this position for a period of five periods, it is said.
Shaktidas Appointed as the Secretary of Department of Economic Affairs
29.8.2015: Government of appointed Shaktidas as the secretary of department of economic affairs. He succeeds Rajiv Mehrishi who is going to retire this month end.
Sunil Arora is the New Information and Broadcasting Secretary
29.8.2015: Sunil Arora is going to replace Bimal Julka as the Information and Broadcasting Secretary. Sunil Arora is the former Air India Chief. Bimal Julka is going to retire on 31st August.
Rohit Nandan Appointed as Secretary in Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship
29.8.2015: Rohit Nandan is going to be the new secretary in Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship. He will replace the present secretary Sunil Arora. Rohit Nandan is presently serving as the Chairman and Managing Director of Air India.
Sania Mirza Conferred With the Rajiv Khel Ratna Award
29.8.2015: President of India Pranab Mukherjee conferred Sania Mirza with Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna in a ceremony at Rashtrapati Bhawan. Sania is the second tennis player to receive the honor. Leander Paes was the first to receive it. Arjuna awards were also given away by the president.
Islamic State Militant Group Banned in Pakistan
29.8.2015: Pakistan banned the Islamic State Militant Group. The outfit is banned as per the recommendations of the foreign office that updates the government about banned militant groups by United Nations. Islamic State Militant Group has its presence in vast stretches of Iraq and Syria. Pakistan denied its presence in its territory.
29th August is National Sports Day in India
29.8.2015: India observes 29th August of every ear as National Sports Day. The day is the birthday of hockey legend Dhyan Chand. Dhyan Chand was born on 29th August, 1905. He won three gold medals in Olympics in 1928, 1932 and 1936. The first national day was observed in the year 2012.
29th August is the Telugu Language Day
29.8.2015: Twenty ninth of August is celebrated as Telugu language day in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh states. The day happens to be the birthday of Gidugu Venkata Ramamurthy Panthulu who is one of the great poets in Telugu.
