Railway Board New Secretary is Ganga Ram

Bihar government banned all noodles in the state. No brand of noodles will be sold in the state. The ban is inclusive on Maggi, Knorr, Top Ramen and so on. The noodles are said to contain high level of lead which is dangerous to be consumed by human beings, a laboratory investigation revealed.

01.08.2015: Ganga Ram Agarwal is appointed the new secretary of Railway Board. He is presently serving Indian Railways as an officer of Electrical Engineering. He succeeds an officer who attained the age of superannuation.

1.08.2015: Special Olympics World Games are going on In Los Angeles and Ranveer Singh Saini created history by winning a gold at the event. He is the first Indian to win a gold in this event.

Prabhroope Sekhon wins Two Gold Medals at Special Olympic World Games

01.08.2015: Fourteen year old Prabhroop Sekhan won two gold medals at special Olympic World Summer Games. He won the two medals in 300 meters and 500 meters roller skating event. Sekhon is from Lucknow and is an Autistic student. Special Olympics are organized for athletes with intellectual disabilities. The Special Olympics were founded in 1968.

Sania Mirza Recommended for Rajiv Khel Ratna Award

01.08.2015: Tennis player Sania Mirza is recommended for Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Award, it is confirmed by the sports ministry. Sania was the number one before winning the Grass Court Major. Recently she won her career’s first women’s doubles grand slam title. Her partner was Martina Hingis.

India’s first integrated underwater Harbour Defence System Commissioned

01.08.2015: As part of an initiative to strengthen and beef up coastal security, the first harbour defence and surveillance system was commissioned in Kochi, Kerala. The system consists advanced sensors, coastal surveillance radars and so on. The system is designed by Israel Aerospace Industries. The system can detect underwater an surface threats and can track, identify and generate warnings. The presence of divers can also be detected.
