11.8.2015: Maharashtra Forest minister Sudhir Mungantiwar’s proposal to be tiger ambassador for the state is accepted by Bollywood hero Amitabh Bachchan.  This is aimed at promoting eco tourism.  The actor wrote a letter to the minister and gave his assent.

Sundar Pichai Named CEO of Google

11.8.2015: Sundar Picahai the India born is named the CEO of Google.  Indian Americans who are recently appointed as heads for other famous organizations are Satya Nadella (Microsoft), Shantanu Narayen (CEO of Adode) and Nikesh Arora (President of COO of Softbank).

Modi to Visit United Arab Emirates

11.8.2015: For the first time, an Indian prime minister is going to gulf nations in the last 34 years.  Prime Minister Narendra Modi is going on a two day visit to UAE on 16th of August. He will meet the ruler, the vice president and also the prime minister of the country.

Gurbaj Singh, Indian Hockey Player Suspended for 9 Months

11.8.2015: Senior Indian hockey paler Gurbaj Singh is suspended for nine months on charges of groupism and creating disharmony in team.  He will not be playing in 2016 Rio Olympics.  Hockey India’s disciplinary committee took this decision in a meeting.  The committee was headed by     Jude Felix and Harbinder Singh.

World Bio-Fuel Day Observed on 10th August

11.8.2015: Sir Rudalph Diesel run mechanical engine with peanut oil in 1893. This was on 10th August and every year this day is observed as the bio-fuel day in the world.  This is to create awareness about green fuels.  Hindustan petroleum started selling bio-diesel in select outlets in India in New Delhi and Visakhapatnam.  Indian Oil started selling the diesel in Vijayawada.

Kochi Joins World Tourism Cities Federation Council

11.8.2015: Kochi became the first Indian city to join world tourism cities federation council.  An invitation was sent to Kerala Tourism Department which was accepted by Kerala.  WTCF was initiated in 2012 with 58 member cities and presently there are 135 members in the council.  Other world famous tourism cities are Los Angeles, Barcelona and Berlin.
