Prashant Pathrabe Appointed the Interim Director of Film and Television Institute of India

18.07.2015: Prashant Pathrabe will be succeeding  D J Narain as the Director of Film and Television Institute of India. He is the Indian information service officer of 1992 batch. He will also serve as director of Press Information Bureau unit in Pune, it is said.  He is associated with media for twenty years. He also served as director of National Film Achieves of India and also in Doordarshan News in Mumbai.

Soccer Legend of Uruguay, Alcides Edgardo Ghiggia Passed Away

18.07.2015: Alcides Edgardo Ghiggia, legend of Uruguay soccer passed away at the age of 88.  He suffered heart attack . Alcides was born in 1926 in Montevideo Ghiggia and his professional career in soccer began in Uruguay Club Penarol.  He represented Uruguay and Italy national teams in his career.

International Nelson Mandela Day is on 18th July

18.07.2015: International Nelson Mandela day is observed in honor of Nelson Mandela which is the birthday of the departed leader.  United Nations declared this day in November and the day is being held on since July 2010.

NCRB Data shown Uttar Pradesh, Tamil Nadu States as Most Unsafe Roads

18.07.2015: The official National Crime Records Bureau’s new data showed that the roads of Uttar Pradesh and Tamil Nadu are the most unsafe roads in the country.  The accidental deaths and suicides in India report 2014 released showed that more than 1.4 lakh people die in road accidents every year.

Puri Jagannath Rath Yatra Begins

18.07.2015: The biggest Rath Yatra, Jagannath Rath Yatra began in Puri, Odis. This the century’s biggest event that coincides with the Navakalevar of temple deities.  Navakalevar is the re-birth ceremony of the Jagannath temple deities.  Lakhs of devotees thronged the town to have the darshan of deities on chariots.

First Air Freight Station of India to Open in Chennai
