Debjani Ghosh Appointed as the President of MAIT
30.07.2015: Manufacturers Association for Information Technology, MAIT appointed Debjani Ghosh as the new president. Debjani is the first woman to be appointed as the president of MAIT. She is presently the vice president sales and marketing group and also MD of Intel Corporation, South Africa. MAIT was established in 1982 and is one of the top IT hardware body in India.
Yakub Memon Executed in Nagpur Jail
30.07.2015: the 1993 Mumbai serial bomb blast convict Yakub Memon was hanged to death on 30th July morning in Nagpur jail. The body of Yakub Memon was handed over to the relatives. Memon is the only convict who was executed in this case. 13 serial explosions took place in Mumbai in March, 1993 in which more than 250 people were killed and 1200 injured. This was the first serial bomb blasts in the world. His mercy petition was rejected by the governor of Maharashtra and also president of India.
Vocalist Vasundhara Komkali Passed Away
30.07.2015: Eminent musician Vasundhara Komkali passed away at the age of 85. She is one of the prominent classical vocalists in India. She was trained under Pt Kumar Gandharva, her husband and Dr. BR Deodhar.
South Africa Cricket’s First Captain Clive Rice Passed Away
30.07.2015: Clive Rice who was the first captain of South African cricket team passed away at the age of 66. Clive Rice is a cancer patient. He was the most talented all rounder of South Africa.
Roelant Oltmans is the New Coach of Indian Men’s National Hockey Team
30.07.2015: Hockey India appointed Roelant Olatmans as the new coach for Indian national hockey team. Roelant is from Netherland. Hockey India recently sacked Paul Van Ass and appointed Roelant Oltmans to replace him.
International Tiger Day on 29th July
30.07.2015: July 29th of every year is observed as the International Tiger Day. This is to create awareness about conservation of habitats and also to support the conservation efforts. Tiger day was first observed in 2010 in Saint Petersburg Tiger Summit.
