Sanjeev Galande Chosen for G D Birla Award 2014
01.07.2015: The prestigious G D Birla award for the year 2014 will be conferred on scientist Sanjeev Galande. He is chosen for this award for his research in epigenetic and molecular cell biology field. He is the professor at IISER, Pune.
Vinod Rai Appointed Independent Director of IDFC
01.07.2015: IDFC appointed Vinod Rai as the independent director. Vinod Rai is former Comptroller and Auditor General. He also served as Financial Services Secretary. He is currently the chairman of UN Panel of external auditors.
Viswanath Tripathi Selected for Moorti Devi Award
01.07.2015: Hindi Writer Vishwanath Tripathi won the Moorti Devi Award for his book Vyomkesh Darvesh. Viswanath Tripati was born on 16th February in the year 1931 in Uttar Pradesh. He completed his studied at Banaras Hindu University and Punjab University. Some of his popular works are Ped ka Hath, Kuch Kahaniyan Kuch Vihar, Jaisa Kaha Saka and so on. Moorti Devi Award is presented by Bharatiya Jnanpith every year.
Matii Makkonene, the Pioneer SMS Technology Passed Away
01.07.2015: The man behind conceiving the idea of SMS technology passed away at the age of 63. Matti Makkonene who won The Economist’ innovation award in 2008 breathed his last. The first text message was sent from a computer to mobile phone in 1992 on 3rd December.
First Ever Day-night Test to be Played at Adelaide Oval
01.07.2015: the first day and night test match will be played in November this year at Adelaide Oval. The match will be played between Australia and New Zealand. The test will be played between November 27 and December 1. Pink balls will be used in the match.
Prime Minister Launched Digital India Week
01.07.2015: Prime minister of India Narendra Modi launched Digital India week in the capital city. Several programs like Digital Locker System, eHospital application, National Scholarship Portal, eSign framework and others are going to be launched under this project.

01.07.2015: July 1 is observed in India as the national doctor’s day in honor of Dr. Bidhan Chandra Roy, the physician whose birth and death anniversary falls on this day.
