Professor S Bandyopadhayay is the new Director of Indian Statistical Institute

12.06.2015: Professor Sanghmitra Bandyopadhayay is appointed as the Director for Indian Statistical Institute. Her appointment was made by Union Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation. She succeeded Dr Bimal K Roy. She is the first woman to be appointed for this post.

Dick Costolo, CEO of Twitter to Step Down

12.06.2016: Slow user growth and the inability to attract advertisers are said to be the main reasons for Dick Costolo to step down as CEO of Twitter. He is going to be replaced by Jack Dorsey who is the co-founder for time being. Jack Dorsey served as CEO of Twitter from 2007 to 2008.

Sunil Lalvani of BlackBerry India to Quit

12.06.2015: Sunil Lalvani who is the managing director of BlackBerry India quit the company. He was with BlackBerry since 2009. He is said to be exploring opportunities outside the mobile manufacturing company. He also worked as enterprise business head before he was made the managing director of BlackBerry.

Nek Chand Saini Passed Away

12.06.2015: Nek Chand Saini, the creator of famous Rock Garden in Chandigarh passed away. He breathed his last on 12th June. He was honored with Padma Shri in 1984 by government of India. Nek Chand was 90. Nek Chand made the best of waste; he made sculptures from discarded material. Rock Garden was inaugurated in 1976.

Assam, Arunachal Pradesh Hit by Floods

12.06.2015: Crops are destroyed, people are being evacuated and bridges and roads are damaged due to incessant rainfall and flood in Assam. Government of Assam is taking all important measures to rescue and rehabilitate people who are affected by the floods. National Disaster Response Force teams are also deployed.

Micromax, Celkon Setting up Manufacturing Unit in Telangana

12.06.2015: Mobile manufacturing companies Micromax and Telangana are going to set up manufacturing units in Telangana. Celkon is going to open the unit in a couple of days. Celkon is requesting the Telangana state and center about supportive ecosystem to enable handset manufacturing.
