Renault is likely to launch the brand new ‘Kwid’ in the Indian market by the end of 2015 most probably and the same has been revealed by a source recently. The small car is described as a semi hatchback and semi crossover basing on its properties. With a small and yet powerful engine under the hood, Renault is likely to offer best in class mileage with the brand new ‘Kwid’.

The new Renault Kwid measures around 3.68 meters of length and 1.58 meters of width along with a decent 180 mm of ground clearance which is absolutely suitable for Indian driving conditions. The hatchback falls under small car category and thus escapes from high taxes and duties that would be imposed on cars which are longer than 4 meters. The front fascia of the model comes with an exclusive dual slat chrome grille along with a set of swept back head lights. A set of fog lamps are offered on the front fascia and plastic claddings on both the sides. The hatchback is made basing on CMF – A platform developed by alliance of Renault and Nissaan.

Renault Kwid

As per the information, the new Renault Kwid is gong to get powered with a 800 CC three cylinder engine that is capable of producing around 57 bhp power at the peak. But some sources have suggested that the small car could get fitted with a 1.0 litre petrol engine instead. However, we must wait for finding out what actually powers the new Kwid hatchback in India. Renault is expecting for a breakthrough in the budget hatchback segment of the Indian market with the launch of new hatchback. The kerb weight of Kwid is just around 670 kilograms which is much lighter when compared with rival models of the segment. There is no doubt in saying that Kwid will make things tougher for its competitors such as Maruti Suzuki Alto, Celerio, Hyundai Eon, i10, Chevrolet Beat and Tata Bolt etc.
