Sumitra Mahajan Named in LIMCA Book of Records
09.05.2015: Lok Sabha speaker Sumitra Mahajan is named in LIMCA book of records. Sumitra won eight times in a row from Indore constituency for Lok Sabha and all the eight times, she contested as BJP candidate which is a record. She represented Indore constituency in Lok Sabha in 1989. 1991, 1996, 1998, 1999, 2004, 2009 and 2014.
Atmaram Govind Bhende, Marathi Theatre Artist Passed Away
09.05.2015: Marathi theatre artist and factor Atmaram Govind Bhende passed away at the age of 91. He was unwell since few days and breathed his last in Pune.
Odisha is the No.1 State in Direct Benefit Transfer for LPG Registration
09.05.2015: Till now 70.07% consumer of LPG in Odisha registered under Direct Benefit Transfer. This is the highest among all Indian states. The all India average is 69 percent. Since the day the scheme was introduced by the central government, more than 10 crore consumers across the country registered their names. Last date for registrations was 31st March of this year.
Delhi to Islamabad Book Unveiled by Vice President Hamid Ansari
09.05.2015: Delhi to Islamabad is a book authored by Prof Bhim Singh and it was unveiled by Vice President Hamid Ansari in Delhi. The book is a travelogue. Former union home secretary Padamana Bhaiya, Wajahat Habibullah, Balwant Singh Mankotia, Uma Vasudev and many other distinguished persons were present at the release event.
Monthly Environmental Compensation Tax on Delhi Residents
09.05.2015: National Green Tribunal issued orders that every household in Delhi should pay monthly environmental compensation for cleaning up of River Yamuna. The monthly tax will be added to either property tax, water or electricity bill and will be transferred to Delhi government. New sewage treatment plants will be provided using the compensations amount.
North Korea Successfully Test Fired Submarine Ballistic Missile
09.05.2015: North Korea announced that it successfully test fired a submarine Ballistic missile. North Korea leader Kim Jong-Un hailed the newly developed missile. International community however condemned the launch. The new technology offers North Korea a survivable second strike capability.
