18.05.2015: Draupadi Murmu became the first woman governor of Jharkhand when she was sworn in on 18th of this month. She succeeded Syed Ahmed who is going to Manipur as the governor.

Aruna shanbaug Rape Victim in Coma Since 42 Years Passed Away

18.05.2015: Aruna Shanbaug, 66 passed away in King Edward Memorial hospital in Mumbai. She was coma since the last 42 years. She was sexually assaulted in 1973 by a ward boy and is in vegetative state since then.

David Granger is the new President of Guyana

18.05.2015: Former Army Brigadier David Granger is sworn in as the Guyana president. APNU defeated ruling people’s progressive party in recent national elections. APNU-AFC coalition won 207200 votes. The coalition promised to reduce youth unemployment and violent crime. PPP got 202674 votes.

Bob Hewitt, Former Grand Slam Tennis Star jailed

18.05.2015: Bob Hewitt, former grand slam tennis star is jailed for six years. He was found guilty of raping of underage girls. He is believed to have sexually assaulted girls he was coaching in 1980 and 1990. Hewitt aged 75 is sentenced by a South African court.

Chris Rogers Retiring from International cricket

18.05.2015: Chris Rogers, Australian opening batsman is going to retire from international cricket after the Ashes Series. Ashes series is scheduled for later this year. Rogers made his debut in 2008 he played in nearly 20 tests and scored 1500 runs.

Novak Djokovic won the 4th Rome Masters Tennis Title

18.05.2015: Novak Djokovic of Serbia won the 4th Rome Masters Tennis Title defeating Roger Federer of Switzerland. The title carried prize money of 628100 US dollar. Djokovic won five titles in this series which include Australian open, BNP Pribas Open, Miami Open and Monte-carlo Rolex Masters.

18.05.2015: External Affairs minister Sushma Swaraj launched the official website of 10th world Hindi conference at Jawaharlal Nehru Bhavan. The official website is www. vishwahindisammelan.gov.in. Lal Parade Ground in Bhopal is the venue for the 10th World Hindi Conference from 10th to 12th of September this year.
