Shashi Kapoor Conferred with Dada Saheb Phalke Award 2014
10.05.2015: Veteran actor Shashi Kapoor is conferred with Dada Saheb Phalke Award 2014. The award was presented to him by Arun Jaitley at a function in Mumbai. Sashi Kapoor is the third person to receive this award from Kapoor family. His father Prithviraj Kapoor and his brother Raj Kapoor were also honored with this award. He acted in many hit films like Satyam Shivam Sundram, Kabhi Kabhie, Kalyug and Trishul. He is the 4th winner of this award.
Vikas Gowda, Indian Discus Thrower won Gold Medal in Kingston
10.05.2015: Indian discus thrower Vikas Gowda won gold medal at Jamaican International Invitation meet which is being held in Kingston. Another Indian Kamalpreet Singh won gold medal in men’s hammer throw event at Sacramento State Open in United States.
Brahmos Cruise Missile Successfully Test-fired
10.05.2015: India successfully test fires BrahMos missile from Car Nicobar islands. This is the third version of land to land missile. BrahMos Aerospace is a joint venture of India and Russia and the cruise missile was designed and developed by them. The missile can be launched from air, sea or land. The speed of the missile is Mach 2.8 and range is 290 km. It can carry a warhead of 300 kilograms.
President Pranab Mukherjee Launched Namaste Russia Festival
10.05.2015: President of India Pranab Mukherjee launched Namaste Russia, Indian culture festival in Moscow. The festival is aimed to strengthen cultural bonds between the people of two countries. The festival will go on for six months.
J&K Government to Clear Bollywood Shooting Proposals in the State in Just Seven Days
10.05.2015: Jammu and Kashmir government is going to set up single window to issue permission for shooting of Bollywood films in the state. Bollywood producers now need not pay any charges for shooting in Kashmir and the proposals for the shooting will be cleared in just one week.
