08.04.2015: Sumit Mazumder is appointed as the new president of Confederation of Indian Industry for 2015-16. He is coming in place of Ajay Shriram. Sumit is a master degree holder in business administration from Texas Sam Houston State University. He also did his Advanced Management program at Harvard University. He is presently the executive chairman of Tractors Indi private limited.

Mudra Bank Launched by PM

08.04.2015: Micro Units Development Re-Finance Agency – MUDRA bank is launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi. This bank will provide credit to small entrepreneurs. They can get a maximum of Rs. 10 lakh. It also provides finance of small business units in India.

Snapdeal Acquires Mobile transaction platform FreeCharge

08.04.2015: FreeCharge is the fastest growing mobile transaction platform in India and it is acquired by Snapdeal. This makes Snapdeal the largest mobile commerce firm. Snapdeal will now offer various financial services apart from wide range of other services. Mobile recharge, utility payments will also be offered. FreeCharge was founded in 2010 with Mumbai as the headquarter.

Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 Cricket Tournament 2015 Winner is Gujarat

08.04.2015: Gujarat defeated Punjab by 2 wickets to win the Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 cricket tournament. Top scorer for Gujarat, while chasing the target set by Punjab was opener Sumit Patel who scored an unbeatable 50. Earlier Rohit Dahiya delivered excellent performance for Gujarat by bagging four wickets by giving only 15 runs.

112 is Single Emergency Number for India, TRAI

08.04.2015: Telecom Regulatory Authority of India recommended 112 as emergency number in India. This number can be used across the country for police, ambulance and fire. Different numbers are being used for different emergencies in India now. 100 is for police, 101 for fire and 102 is for ambulance.

Padma Vibhushan Conferred to Amitabh and Dilip Kumar

08.04.2015: Bollywood actors Amitabh Bachchan and Dilip Kumar received the second highest civilian award Padma Vibhushan on April 8. The awards were given away by Sri Pranab Mukherjee in an event held at Rashtrapathi Bhavan. The awards were announced in January this year.
