Rajeev Shukla is the new Chairman of IPL Governing Council
07.04.2015: Rajeev Shukla is again appointed as the Chairman of IL Governing Council. He was in this post till 2013 and after the spot fixing scandal, he resigned to his post. Others who joined the governing council are Ravi Shastri, Chetan Desai, Anil Kumble Jyotiraditya Scindia, Gokaraju Gangaraju, Biswarup Dey and others.
Neelam Sawhney appointed the Central Vigilance Commission Secretary
07.04.2015: Neelam Sawhney belonging to Andhra Pradesh cadre, 1984 batch IAS officer is appointed as Central Vigilance commission secretary. She will continue in additional secretary position for the coming four years. She replaced Alok Kumar.
Dena Bank Signs Memorandum of Understanding with LIC
07.04.2014: Dena Bank and LIC of India signed a MoU to provide insurance cover to all savings account holders of Dena Bank whose accounts are lined with Aadhaar card. This is applicable to account holders who are aged 18 to 50 years.
IPL 8 Inaugurated in Kolkata
07.4.2015: The eighth season of IPS was inaugurated in Kolkata. Bollywood superstars Hritik Roshan, Sahid Kapoor and Anushka Sharma performed live and entertained the audience. Eight state based teams are participating in the tournament and they will play around 60 matches.
Dronavalli Harika, Indian Grandmaster won Bronze at World Women’s Chess Championship
06.04.2015: Dronavalli Harika, Indian grandmaster won the world women’s chess champion Bronze medal. She was defeated in the semi final by Mariya Muzychuk of Ukraine. In the quarter finals, Harika defeated another Indian grand master Koneru Humpy. The silver medal was won by Natalija Pogonina, a Russian and gold was won by Muzychuk.
Piplantri Village in Rajasthan creates tradition of planting 111 trees for every girl child born
06.04.2015: Piplantri village in Rajasthan started the tradition of planting 111 trees for every girl born. This was started by village’s former sarpanch Shyam Sundar Piliwal in 2006. The villagers are continuing the tradition since that time. Plants are planted in honor of the newly born girl child.

07.04.2015: Yuvraj Singh is turning a business man. He is floating a venture fund named YouWeCan Ventures. This is aimed at helping young entrepreneurs by offering startup funds. He is investing around Rs. 50 crore and is expecting to rise around Rs. 300 crore in the coming years.
