11.04.2015: Tholhath Ibrahim, former defense minister of Maldives is sentenced to 10 years prison. He was facing the charges of detaining a senior judge. Earlier former President Mohamed Nasheed was also sentenced to jail in the same case.

An Asteroid Named after Malala

11.04.2015: The children’s rights activist and youngest to receive Nobel peace prize Malala’s name is given to an Asteroid. Official name of the Asteroid is 316201 Malala. The Asteroid is between Mars and Jupiter and revolves around sun every 5.5 years. Malala won the Nobel Prize in 2014 along with Kailash Satyarthi, an Indian who also works to protect the rights of young people.

Bharat Hari Singhania is the new president of JK Organization

11.04.2015: JK Organization issued a formal statement stating that Bharat Hari Singhania is taking charge as the President of the organization. He was appointed in place of Gaur Hari Singhania, who died in the first week of April. JK Group has its operation in many countries including Romania, Indonesia, Belgium, Mexico, UAE and Portugal.

Yuki Bharmbri won ITF Futures Tournament Title

11.04.2015: Yuki Bhambri won the ITF Futures tournament title. He defeated Dzmitry Zhyrmont of Belarus. This is the tenth ITF Futures singles title for Yuki Bhambri. ITF – International Tennis Federation Futures Tournament title represents lowest rung of men’s professional tennis ladder.

Apurvi Chandela wins Bronze Medal at ISSF Rifle and Pistol World Cup

11.04.2015: Apurvi Chandela, an Indian shooter won the bronze medal at ISSF Rifle and Pistol world cup which is going on in South Korea. Pejcic Snjezana of Croatia won the gold medal and Maksimovic of Serbia won the silver medal Apurvi is now qualified to participate in 2016 Olympics in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil.

Songs and Dances of the North East Festival Inaugurated in New Delhi

11.04.2015: The first Songs and dances of the North East, festival was inaugurated in New Delhi. The festival is organized by Meghalaya government. The festival displays the culture of northeast region of India. This festival will be held by rotation in various parts of the country for attracting visitors to boost tourism and also to attract investors.
