9.3.2015: Ex union minister and congress senior leader Veerappa Moily is chosen for prestigious Saraswati Samman. This award for announced for his ‘Ramayana Mahanweshanam’ book. This was announced by KK Birla Foundation. The jury led by Supreme Court ex justice RC Lahoti. Rs. 10 lakh cash is presented under the award. ‘Ramayana Mahanweshanam’ was released in 2007 and was translated into English, Hindi, Telugu and Tamil languages.

TCS is again Named the Top Employer in Europe

9.3.2015: Tata Consultancy Service is the top employer in Europe. TCS is one of the leading IT services company of India and is named for the third consecutive yare as the top employer in Europe. The organization was also named as top employer in other countries such as Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Germany, Netherlands, Belgium and UK.

England Knocked out of World Cup Tourney: Bangladesh Enter Quarter Finals

9.3.2015: Bangladesh entered into the quarter final of world cup 2015 tourney for the first time. The team defeated England by 15 runs. England is now out of the tourney. The other teams in Pool B who entered the quarter finals are Australia, New Zealand and Sri Lanka. It is likely that Bangladesh will face India in the quarter finals.

Lalit Modi Removed from Rajasthan Cricket Association

9.3.2015: a General body meeting was held by Amin Pathan group in Jaipur and a no confidence motion was passed against Lalit Modi. He is expelled as Rajasthan Cricket Association president. 17 votes were cast against him and only one vote was in his favor. However a case was filed against the procedure though which Lalit Modi is removed from the post. Hearing of the case is going to be on Tuesday.

Aapki Beti Humari Beti Scheme Launched by Haryana Government

9.3.2015: Haryana government launched Aapki Beti Humari Beti scheme. Manohar Lal Khattar launched the scheme in Panchakula district. This scheme will be implemented in all areas of the state and will combat the problem of declining child sex ratio in the state. Under this scheme, Rs. 21,000 will be given to the first girl child born in schedule caste families who are under poverty line. Second child of the family born in any family after January 22, 2015 is also eligible to get government aid of Rs. 21,000.

Solar Powered ‘Solar Impulse’ Took Off for Global Tour

9.3.2015: Solar Impulse is the first aircraft powered by solar. This single seater aircraft weighs 2.300 kgs. It took off for global tour from Abu Dhabi. It will reach and stop over at Ahmadabad tomorrow.
