Poonam Mahajan is first woman president of Basketball Federation of India

29.3.2015: Poonam Mahajan is elected the first woman president of Basketball federation of India. The federation never has a woman president in its 65 year old history. She is also the youngest president of any national federation in India. Poonam is the president of Maharashtra state basketball association. She will serve as president of BFI for four years.

Aditi Arya from Delhi is FBB Femina Miss India World 2015

29.3.2015: Aditi Arya from Delhi won the Miss India world title at the event held in Yashraj studios in Mumbai. She will now represent India in Miss World competition. John Abraham, Manisha Koirala, Sonu Nigam, Anil Kapoor, Firoz Nadiawala, Shilpa Shetty, Sonali Bendre, Chitrangada Singh and other top names from entertainment and fashion field were in the jury.

Sonia Gandhi created record as being the longest serving congress president

29.3.2015: Sonia created a record as being the longest serving congress president. She took the primary membership of congress in 1997 in Kolkata in party plenary. With in 62 days from taking the primary membership, she took charge as party president in 1998. From then onwards, she is servingthe party as president. Sonia contested to Lok Sabha from Bellary and Amethi in 1999. She is elected to Lok Sabha in 2004, 2009 and 2014 from Rai Bareilly constituency. Rahul Gandhi is likely to be named congress president in this May.

Australia Won ICCWorld Cup Tourney for the Fifth Time

29.3.2015: Australia proved that there is not competition for them in cricket by winning the world cup 2015 tourney. This is the fifth title for Australia team. In the final match that was played at Melbourne, Australia defeated New Zealand by seven wickets to win the title. New Zealand set a target of 184 runs to Australia. Australia successfully chased the target by losing just three wicket. Australia team dedicated the world cup to Philip Hues who died because of a head injury.

Srikanth won the Indian Open Series Men’s Single Title

29.3.2015: Kidambi Srikanth won the Indian super series men’s singles title. He won the final match with 18-21, 21-13, 21-12 against Axelsen of Denmark. On the other hand Saina Nehwal won the women’s single title and attained the world number one rank.
