Dolly Shivan Cherukuri Enters India Book of Records

24.3.2015: Two year old Dolly Shivan Cherukuri must not be aware of the record she created. Her name is entered into India Book of Records as youngest archer.  She is the youngest Indian archer to score 200 points over five and sever meter distance.

Madhav Gadgil, Dr. Jane Lubchenco Won Tyler Prize for Environment Achievement 2015

24.3.2015: Ecologist Madhav Gadgil and Dr. Jane Lubchenco are name for the Tyler Prize for Environment Achievement 2015. Madhav Gadgil belongs to India and Dr. Jane is a scientist belonging to US.  These two winners will share the 200000 US dollars cash prize. The award will be given away to them in Los Angeles on April 24th. Madhav is the second Indian to receive this award.

New Zealand stormed into Finals of World Cup 2015

24.3.2015: New Zealand defeated South Africa in the first semi finals match played at Auckland.  New Zealand defeated South Arica by four wickets and entered the world cup final for the first time after forty years.  Kiwis reached the semi final stage of the tourney seven times earlier.  South Africa won the toss and scored 281 for five wickets in 43 overs. New Zealand’s target was revised as 298 as per D/L method. Kiwis will now play with the winner of the second semifinal on March 29.

Airbus A320 Flight Crashed Killing all the Passengers

24.3.2015: A German Airbus A320 crashed yesterday killed all those who were travelling in it. According to information, there were 144 passengers and six crew in the flight. Most of the passengers are from Spain, German and Turkey.  The flight was travelling at a height of 33,000 feet and suddenly dropped to 6,800 feet.  France officials informed that the Black box of the flight is recovered.

Supreme Court Struck Down Section 66 A

24.3.2015: Supreme Court of India struck down Section 66 A of IT Act.   Arresting people for posting offensive content on social networking sites and on internet was possible under this act.  The court commented that this is affecting the public’s right to know and right to freedom of speech.

Kangana Ranaut Won National Best Actress Award for Queen

24.3.2015: Kangana Ranaut won national award as best actress for her role in Queen. She also won the Filmfare award for the same role.  62nd National Film Awards were announced and the best feature film award is won by Marathi Film Court.  Kannada Actor Vijay won the best actor award for Nanu Avanalla Avalu.
