Ratan Tata Appointed Head of Kayakulp council

19.3.2015: Ratan Tata will now head the innovation council of Indian Railways, Kayakulp. The council will recommend methods and process for the betterment of Indian Railways. The appointment was done by Suresh Prabhakar Prabhu, Minister of Railways.

Indian-born Sri Venkatraman Ramakrishnan confirmed President Elect of Royal Society

19.3.2015: Indian born scientist Sir Venkatraman Ramakrishna is confirmed as President Elect of the Royal Society. He will take his appointment of 1st of December this year. Ramakrishnan won Nobel Prize in chemistry in 2009. He is presently the Deputy Director of British Medical Research Councils’ Laboratory of Molecular Biology in Cambridge. He will succeed Sir Paul Nurse as President Elect of Royal Society in December.

Sohail Aman is the new Chief of Pakistan Air Force

19.3.2015: Air Marshall Sohail Aman is appointed the chief of Pakistan Air Force. Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif approved this appointment and he will take the charge immediately. He is succeeding Air Chief Marshal Tahir Rafique Butt. He was the deputy chief of Air Staff at Islamabad prior to this. He won Hilal-i-Imtiaz, Tamgha-i-Imtiaz and Sitara-i-Imtiaz awards for his dedicated services.

India stormed into semi finals of World Cup 2015

19.3.2015: Team India stormed into semi finals of World cup tourney by defeating Bangladesh in the second quarter final match played at Melbourne. South Africa also entered the semi finals by defeating Sri Lanka in the first quarter finals. Team India set a target of 303 runs for Bangladesh which could only score 193 runs in 45 overs by losing all the wickets. This is the seventh consecutive win for India in world cup. India will play semi final with the winner of Australia-Pakistan quarter final winner next week in Sydney.

International Conference on Counter Terrorism Inaugurated in Jaipur

19.3.2015: Union home minister Rajnath Singh inaugurated the International Conference of Counter Terrorism in Jaipur. Field experts, scholars, thinkers in counter terrorism activities from various government agencies, academic and research institutions and others are attending the conference.

Rio Olympics Test Event Schedule is Released

19.3.2015: Rio Olympic test event schedule is released. This year test events will be held for 21 events. Test events for another 23 events will be held from January 2016. Total events are divided into three segments. First segment is Volleyball and test events will be held for this in May 2015. Second segment will contain the likes of Boxing, Basket Ball and diving for which test events will be held from November to February.
