Kavinder Gupta elected speaker of Jammu and Kashmir Assembly

18.3.2015: BJP legislator Kavinder Gupta is elected the speaker of 12th Jammu and Kashmir legislative assembly. He is elected to assembly from Gandhinagar constituency. He is the first MLA to defeat Raman Bhalla, a congress leader. Kavinder also served as Mayor of Jammu earlier.

Rajashri Pati is CII southern region Chair person

18.3.2015: CMD of Rajashri Sugars and Chemicals Limited is elected as chair person of CII southern region. Datla Ramesh, chairman of Elico limited is elected as the deputy chairman. This was announced by CII. Rajashri Pati was honored with Padma Shri in 2013 for her service to commerce and industries. She also won global leader for Tomorrow award from World Economic Forum in Davos in 1996.

South Africa Confirms Semifinal Berth by Defeating Sri Lanka in First Quarter Final Match

18.3.2015: South Africa defeated Sri Lanka in the first knock out match and confirmed Semi Finals berth. The team chased the target of 134 runs set by Sri Lanka by losing only one wicket. On the other hand Sri Lanka failed in every department in the key match and is knocked out of the tournament. South Africa won the toss and spin bowlers restricted the Sri Lanka batsmen to only 133. The target of 134 runs was chased by South Africa in just 18 overs by losing one wicket.

Sangakkara, Jayewardene Bid Goodbye to Cricket

18.3.2015: Two of the great players of Sri Lanka retired from internal one day cricket after the match with South Africa in world cup 2015. Jayewardene is one player and he already announced his retirement from tests in August, 2014. Sangakkara will retire from test matches after test series with India in August this year. These two were one of the successful pairs in one day as well as test matches.

Lewis Hamilton wins Formula 1 Rolex Australian Gran Prix

18.3.2015: Lewis Hamilton won the Formula 1 Rolex Australian Grand Prix. This is the first grand prix title for the Hamilton since 2008. Only eleven cars were in the race and Hamilton led the race till the end.
