Telangana Issues: Centre Portraying Role Of Silent Spectator

The various deeds of TRS government are reported to be not in line with the established traditions and the powerful centre is just a silent spectator.

Hyderabad: With the movement party that ensured conclusion of the T-movement into formation of the new state, people of Telangana believed that the new TRS government with KCR as its head is going to work for the welfare of the citizens of the state. Ever since the new government formed the cabinet, the focus of the TRS ministers and leaders has steadily got focused on criticism on earlier rulers (both congress & TDP) and pointing Seemandhra people as people who exploited Telangana region.

While his counterpart Chandrababu maintained his friendly relations with centre and ensured that his state gets its requirements fulfilled, KCR maintained his style of behavior which received criticism from many sections in the Telangana society as well.

The first fight taken up by the new government is with two television channels. These two popular channels are at the receiving end when the Telangana MSO’s denied airing their programs within the state. The many instructions/warnings by union minister Prakash Javadekar did not have any effect the as on date, the unofficial ban on these two channels is still continuing thereby devoiding the people of the state to watch these channels.

The next act of TRS government was with regard to registration numbers. The government issued a GO advising all the vehicle owners to go for change in number plates of their vehicles. The advise was to incorporate the letters ‘TS’ in place of ‘AP’ and in view of the heavy financial outlay from the pockets of the vehicle owners, the high court intervened in the matter and advised the T-government to come up with a clear legislation in this regard.

Other day, TRS started integrated household survey. Many apprehended that the survey was aimed at identifying non locals and the government’s declaration about the aims of the survey could not satisfy the people. Based on the outcome of the survey reports, the TRS government is intending to issue citizenship cards to people of Telangana. Centre is silent spectator once again.

The recent power crisis is another instance where the centre is just a silent spectator. When the AP CM Chandrababu is repeatedly saying that the T-government is flouting the GO’s in connection with water utilization (for electricity) in Srisailam, the TRS government its decision clear that it will continue electricity production. It also described Chandrababu as ‘cheat’ and also indicates its desire to drag the related GO’s to Supreme Court.

In all the above sensitive issues, centre is not able to interfere and ensure rule of natural justice prevails in the new state.
