Happy New Year: Shahrukh’s Typical Marketing Strategy

SHAHRUKH PLANS UNIQUE RELEASE FOR HIS NEW MOVIE

Happy New Year: Shahrukh’s Typical Marketing Strategy

The latest movie Happy New Year starring Shahrukh & Deepika in the lead roles did have its unique promotion and its release is also unique.

Mumbai: Shahrukh Khan is able to show his marketing technique for the promotion of his new movie Happy New Year. In this movie Shahrukh is once again coming before the audience repeating his successful combination with Deepika Padukone. The pair already gave blockbusters like Om Shanti Om & Chennai Express.

Shahrukh took a different route for marketing/promotion of the movie HNY. Shahrukh’s own production went in for promoting the movie in overseas markets (North America, UK & Middle East) wherein the total crew & cast of the movie conducted a slam tour. The tour had twin advantages – the tour is a promotional took for the movie and the budget of the movie is partially recovered through the slam tour for which there is a fee collected from the audience. Traditionally, Bollywood Badshah is having his own unique favourites in the overseas market as well.

Deepika Padukone has been involved in many reports/rumours. Her ‘friendship’ with many co stars like Ranbir Kapoor and latest Ranveer Singh always remain hot news and becomes the headlines. Her recent tussle with Times of India group of magazines regarding picture of Deepika’s cleavage went in for a big fight between Bollywood and the Press.

Despite the personal issues, Deepika’s name has been doing rounds with her successive movies and she is considered as one of the best bets in terms of commercial success at the box office. Most of the Deepika’s films are grossing collections of more than Rs.100 crores. Such high range of collections is definitely welcome step for Bollywood movies that spend huge budgets for making and also for marketing/promotion of the movies.

Shahrukh is lucky enough to get back choreographer turned director Farah Khan who gave blockbuster like Om Shanti Om. The friendship between Shahrukh & Farah Khan went for a small trouble and they could patch up the differences and Farah Khan’s direction is viewed with higher expectations.

HNY is also hyped in view of the repeat of successful combination of Chennai Express. Chennai Express also stood as one of the blockbusters in the career of Shahrukh & Deepika as well.

Shahrukh is ensuring that the movie is coming before audience in India on Friday the 24th October 2014 most favoured day of the week. The movie, however, is hitting the screens a day earlier i.e., on 23rd October 2014 as the Deepavali day is expected to contribute large to the opening day collections in overseas market.

Happy New Year is scheduled to hit 6000 screens (5000 in India and 1000 in overseas) and this is the widest release in the history of Bollywood movies.
