Google Android One Platform: Android One Smartphones, Simple But Powerful

Google officially announced the launching of Android One Platform in India. The main aim of Google in launching the Android One platform is to provide qualify software for affordable price and grab more share in the market.

Mumbai: Google partnered with Spice, Karbonn and Micromax companies to offer affordable handsets that run on Android One. Spice launched Android One Dream UNO for Rs. 6,299, Karbonn launched Sparkle V handset for Rs. 6,399 and Micromax launched Canvas A1 for Rs. 6,499.

All smartphones that run on Android operating system do not allow users to access Google services. But with Android One smartphones, it is possible to access Google Play. These smartphones are made with plastic material and thus it will be simple and durable. Phone corners are soft and thus will fit into the hand comfortably.

All the three Android One smartphones launched in India come with 4.5 inch display. Usually the display is not visible in sunlight but in Android One smartphones, it is possible to view the display clearly even under sunlight. Android One runs on Android 4.4 Kitkat operating system and comes with some preloaded apps. These are non-removable preloaded apps. Google Camera App is also present in the phone.

All the three Android One smartphones launched by Google India have to be purchased online for now. They will be made available in retail stores from October. Google is taking special interest for popularizing Android One. For this WiFi equipped mobile demo trucks are being used. These are named Showroom on Wheels. These are introduced in 600 locations in 20 cities to give live experience to the customers. Android One ambassadors are available in stores who will provide the necessary information about Android One platform and also guide the customers.

Google selected India for launching its first Android smartphones as the smartphone market is growing very fast. Google’s estimation is proved correct with the response the smartphones are getting. Google announced that the smartphone will be launched in South Asian markets by the end of the year. The company also announced that Android One will be launched in partnership with new hardware partners in future. For this Google signed agreements with Acer, HTC, Intex, Lava, Panasonic, Lenovo and Xolo.

As part of Android One promotion, Airtel reduced the data cost. Customers can also get over the air updates. Android One smartphone users can download up to 200 MB apps every month from Google Play. This facility will be available for the first six months.
