31.08.2014: Bapu, Legendary Telugu Film Maker, Passes Away. His original name is Sattiraju Lakshmi Narayana. He was born on 15th December 1933. He played several roles in the film industry namely designer, Cartoonist, illustrator, Painter, music artist. His famous films are Vamsa Vruksham and Seeta Kalyanam. In 2013 he achieved Padma Sri. He was also honoured with two film fare Best Director awards and two National Film Awards.

In 31 years Zimbabwe defeated Australia for the first time in One day Internationals
31.08.2014: In 31 years Zimbabwe defeated Australia for the first time one day internationals. This match was played at Harare Sports Club. In this match Australia made 209 runs. Zimbabwe reached this target with 2 over’s to spare and 3 wickets in hand. Since 1983 World Cup of Cricket in Trent bridges this was the first win for Zimbabwe.

In Mixed Doubles, Gold Medal won by Zhang Nan and Zhao Yunlei from China, Silver Medal won by Xu Chen and Ma Jin from China and Bronze Medal won by Liu Cheng and Bao Yixin from China & Joachim Fischer Nielsen and Christinna Pedersen from Denmark.
In Women’s Doubles, Gold Medal won by Tian Qing and zhao Yunlei from China, Silver Medal won by Wang Xiaoli and Yu Yang China and Bronze Medal won by Lee So hee and Shin Seung Chan from South Korea & Reika Kakiiwa and Miyuki Maeda Japan.

World Record in Women Hammer throws Created by Anita Wlodarczyk
31.08.2014: World Record in Women Hammer throws Created by Anita Wlodarczyk of Poland. Record was created at Internationals Standionfest (ISTAF) Berlin Athletics meet at Berlin’s Olympic Stadium in Germany. Earlier record was in the name of Betty Heidler of Germany with 79.42 meters. She had done this in 2011. Anita created recorded with 79.58 meters.
Wockhardt drugs attained Qualified Infectious Disease Product
31.08.2014: Wockhardt drugs attained Qualified Infectious Disease Product (QIDP). Those drugs were WCK 2349 (Solid Oral Tablet) and WCK 771(Intravenous IV drug). This status was given by USFDA (US Food and Drug Administration). Wockhardt is the first Indian company to attain QIDP status.
