Champions League T20 2014: Last Chance for Mumbai Indians to Progress to the Next Stage
Today’s match is the last chance for Mumbai Indians to quality for the main draw. As part of qualifying tourney, Mumbai will play with Northern Districts team today evening. Northern districts already won two matches and qualified to enter the next stage. Mumbai Indians, Lahore Lions are competing to qualify t the next stage.
Raipur: Mumbai Indian lost the first played to Lahore Lions but won a match against Southern Express to keep the hopes of main draw alive. Southern Express team lost the match and is out of CLT tournament. Mumbai Indians is in the second place based on run rate. The team is not trying to qualify for main draw by winning the match against northern districts team. The win in the second match increased confidence in the team. At the same time, drawbacks in the team were identified and they are trying to correct the mistakes they made in fielding during the second match.
Northern districts already won two matches and qualified for main draw. The team’s net run rate is 2.684 and it has four points which placed the team on top of the list. Strong batting lineup and bowling attack are the strengths of Northern Districts team. Even if the team loses today’s match, it will enter the next state based on net run rate.
On the other hand Southern Express and Lahore Lions teams will play a match today. Is Lahore Lions won the match, their will have a better run rate which increases pressure on Mumbai team. Mumbai’s runs rat is 0.498 and Lahore team’s run rate is -1.496. If Lahore Lions loses the match, Mumbai will directly progress to the next stage. Thus irrespective of winning or losing today’s match, Mumbai Indians have good chances of qualifying for main draw.
Mumbai team won the Champions trophy, twice earlier. The defending champion is facing problems in CLT 20. Mumbai Indians captain Pollard said that the players must improve their fielding. They dropped catches and missed the chance of stumping.
Southern Express and Lahore Lions match will start at 4.00 pm today at Raipur and will be live telecasted in Star Sports. Mumbai Vs Northern Districts match will begin at 8.00 pm and can be watches on Star Sports.
